Today I got boots that I think will be warm and protective from large amounts of mud and water...and below freezing temperatures.
I am also the proud new owner of 5 18 gallon plastic totes...My belongings are beginning to fill them up. I will take 2 with me on June 16th. One will be full with my food for those 2.5 weeks.
This last weekend I borrowed a food dehydrator. I dehydrated 5 bushels of kale, 1 bushel of carrots, 10 lbs. of apples and 25 lbs. of bananas. I am hoping the bananas keep even though they never got 100% dry and hard like. I will take the dehydrated food with me in hopes that it will compensate somehow for the potential nonexistence of fresh vegetables and fruits (at least for the month of June); When I move up there in August I will begin receiving a fresh farm box of organic fruits and vegetables from Full Circle Farms in Washington. It will come bi weekly.
